Lovely Sterling silver and 14k vermeil brooch marked Symmetalic. Would make a wonderful gift!!! For you or someone you care for!
The Symmetalic mark represents a specific line of jewelry produced by the Richards Jewelry Company of Massachusetts. Beginning at the turn of the century, the firm produced both silver and gold jewelry. “Symmetalic was the registered trademark of W.E. Richards Company first used in 1936 and found on the company’s high quality silver pieces….The Symmetalic pieces are usually in vermeil and show Edwardian and Art Deco influences. The jewelry is of high quality and superior to the firm’s silver jewelry with the WRE trademark.” Information from pg. 38 of Rezazadeh’s 2001 Collectible Silver Jewelry Identification and Value Guide.
The pin is marked SYMMETALIC, STERLING plus 14K. Items are not tested, descriptions are based on the markings.
This pin measures approx. 1 1/4" at the tallest point by approx. 1 3/4" at the widest point.
Vintage condition. Pin mechanism is tight (ever-so-slight stick), but is in working order. Please expect some surface wear and scratches. This has NOT been polished in my possession.
This is older and has been worn, please expect surface scratches and surface wear. Please look closely at the photos...many of which are magnified, as they are close-up shots. Color does vary with different screens. Patinas do darken in storage. I am always happy to answer questions.
Vintage. Do NOT use liquid silver polish or harsh chemicals on pieces with stones (especially turquoise) as those substances will cause damage. A simple silver cloth will do, taking care to avoid the stones as much as possible.
